Bug 1: The intersection of 20th avenue and 43rd street outside Canopy apartments is dangerous.
Why?: There are no red light cameras which make people more inclined to pass through the intersection at a yellow light which then turns red and increases the risk for accidents.
Bug 2: People who litter cigarettes out of their window while driving.
Why?: Littering is bad for the environment and the image of our communities.
Bug 3: People who pull into a parking spot that I had my signal on for first.
Why?: If I had my signal on first, I should have the right to be the one that claims and pulls into the parking spot.
Bug 4: People who sit in an unassigned seat in an assigned seat class.
Why? If the professor assigns the students seats, sit in your assigned seat so you don't make things difficult for others.
Bug 5: People who consistently drive under the speed limit on Gainesville one lane roads.
Why?: This slows the flow of traffic which usually results in a traffic jam
Bug 6: People distracted driving in Gainesville.
Why?: People who drive in Gainesville are constantly causing accidents or unsafe driving conditions by constantly performing other tasks such as being on their phone or fixing their makeup while behind the wheel.
Bug 7: Bread expiration dates.
Why?: Bread expiration dates are usually quick approaching from when you purchase the product, often times not allowing for enough time to finish the loaf being it expires.
Bug 8: Milk expiration dates.
Why?: Milk often times expires quicker than I am able to consume it.
Bug 9: Cars not having memory seating.
Why?: When you allow others to drive your car, often times they request the ability to adjust your seat and mirror settings to accommodate for their needs. Memory seating should be standard in all cars to allow the primary driver of the vehicle to save their preferred settings.
Bug 10: People who have poor public manners
Why?: People with poor manners in public create a disturbance of the peace to the immediate surrounding population.
Bug 11: People who share drinks without asking.
Why?: It is a rude thing to do. Especially if someone is sick.
Bug 12: When someone covers two parking spots in a parking lot.
Why?: This is bad parking etiquette. This makes it hard for others to safely park their cars if they have room to park at all.
Bug 13: Refrigerators without ice and water dispensers.
Why?: It is the year 2020, all brand new fridges should be equipped with the ability to dispense water and ice which would save the consumer money on buying a separate, detached filter system such as a Brita.
Bug 14: The RTS busses have different styles and configurations.
Why?: All of the RTS busses should be configured the same way to accommodate the mass amounts of people that utilize the bus system. Some busses have configurations with less seating than others making it a challenge to find a seat during as busy time making it more dangerous to ride the bus due to having to stand up.
Bug 15: Too low of speed limits in Gainesville.
Why?: I have observed that many Gainesville roads have a speed limit of 35mph or slower. This causes traffic to build up which results in overall longer commute times and increases driver dissatisfaction.
Bug 16: Student focused housing complexes maintenance and customer service.
Why?: Student housing complexes more often than not have poor maintenance teams and staff who are typically unresponsive or below par. In my experience with Canopy Apartments, I have noticed that the staff is quite unfriendly and unresponsive to the needs and requests of their residents making it less than pleasurable to live here.
Bug 17: People who chew their food loudly.
Why?: When I am eating with a group of people I find it extremely annoying when someone, or multiple people chew and eat their food extremely loudly, it makes eating bothersome.
Bug 18: When my ceiling fan is squeaky and loud.
Why?: This causes a disturbance when I am in my room trying to concentrate on school work or trying to sleep.
Bug 19: When adults argue in restaurants in front of young kids.
Why?: It creates an unpleasant environment for both the kids and the other restaurant goers because it disrupts their dining experience.
Bug 20: When people can't handle their alcohol.
Why?: This causes a problem for society as a whole. It causes a problem for the person who over drank because they are now sick and incapacitated. This causes a problem for the friends of the person who is over drinking because they now have to take care of that person and make sure they are safe. This could causes a problem for both the bar and the police because if the drunk person becomes sick out needs emergency assistance the bar becomes responsible for either helping them or kicking them out which then the police have to respond to manage the situation.
Reflection
I found this assignment to be difficult at first but became easier as I began to get into the correct thinking habits. The process began difficult, I was able to think of things that bugged me but did not think they were significant enough. As the process continued, I was able to start picking things out that effected me more often than not and used those initial bugs to start teaching my mind to think along the lines of what experiences do I have where I feel inconvenienced. I enjoyed this assignment. This assignment puts into perspective the mindset in which you need to become an entrepreneur and this process has made me realize it isn't as hard as I thought when you think in terms of not trying to change the world but improve my life and scale it to others who potentially have the same problem and that process made it easier for me to come up with bugs.
